The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) is an independent member-based organisation providing development assistance to Afghanistan since 1982, with focus on education and health. The budget is around 120 million SEK. SCA's activities are financed by own fund-raising, Sida, EU and UN. Our head office in Peshawar, Pakistan, soon to be relocated to Kabul, Afghanistan, has around 120 employees and our three regional offices inside Afghanistan have another 400. Furthermore, about 8000 project staff get their salaries from SCA. 


At the field offices
The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan has nine expatriates employed at the Central Management Office (CMO) in Peshawar, Pakistan - a Country Director, a Planning Managerand a Planning Officer, a Programme Co-ordinator, an Administrative Co-ordinator, a Gender Co-ordinator, an Education Advisor, a Health Advisor and an Information Co-ordinator. Furthermore, a Developement Worker is assisting at the Finance department.

The rest of the staff is locally employed, mostly Afghans.

CMO will move to Kabul, Afghanistan within short.

Inside Afghanistan, there is one expatriate working as Regional Director and 1-2 development workers (Management Assistants) at each of our three regional offices, situated in Kabul, Ghazni and Pul-i-Khumri.Furthermore, there is one midwife employed in each region.

The assignments at the field offices are normally on two years contracts.
